They were really good. I got to plug into the board for the Des Moines and Minneapolis shows. They did 4/5/1989 Crisler Arena, U Of Mi., Ann Arbor, MI in Des Moines. They also did 2/17/1973 Auditorium, St. Paul, MN in Minneapolis. I will get you copies of the shows.

Hey blkpeter1, I am an active member of a 12th step group, and I help other guys as well. As fate should have it, I am sponsoring a guy who is also a deadhead. His first show was the same as mine 8/6/82. I am here to help if you want it.

The chatzy chat room is used when we do a group listen, or grok. Otherwise we hang out and talk here. Welcome.

Yeah. Not a regular of the chat room world, but its more spontaneous, no threads. The group listen/streams are called groks. These are occaisionally planned out way in advance, sometimes just kind of spontaneous where 3-4 people all want to listen to the same show at the same time. No formalities- if you have the time and want to check the show out, just follow the link to stream. Go to the chat room listed, password GROK. Chat if you want, listen and read the conversations-what ever you want. They tend to be fun and great shows to boot.

I see....sorry I have always had dail up internet until now so I never ventured so far as to chat or download anything or really do anything more than e-mail and research for school. This is so cool I can download a whole show in like 20 min, while watching wsp in another window. technology is the best. :)x3

Of course I don't know what your specific struggle is, and I'm not officially one of the Wharf Rats, so to speak, but I was able to come through a dark period that started when I was in high school and lasted 23 years. I didn't realize it was a problem for a long time, and then lived in denial about it for years after that. And I don't have any kind of a magic bullet that will kill off what you're fighting. But I do know that we were all given a heart and soul that yearn for peace and love, and alcohol and drugs are only there to kill that yearning. If you have the desire to overcome your problem, and by reaching out, you apparently do, then you have what it takes to win. It would be arrogantly naive for me to say that it is only that simple, but at the core of it, it very well could be. There is a voice inside of you that is pleading with you to stay sober, and those of us who know what it is like to hear that voice would plead with you to pay heed to it. Most, if not all, addictions need more than will-power to be beaten, so if you are not in a program, be it a group like AA or NA, or a medical treatment regiment, I urge you to take that step and get on board with something like that. You might be pleasantly surprised how many good people are out there that are not only willing, but are deeply committed to helping you in any way they can. Survivors of addictions are often the best teachers when it comes to learning how to move your life past the web of drinking or drugging, but trained professionals who may have never once gotten high or drunk have qualifications that many former drinkers and addicts do not. What I think is most important for you right at this moment, though, is for you to know that the fact that you have spoken up opens the door for the rest of us who have been there, or who have at least been somewhere near there to tell you that you are NOT alone in this time of great difficulty. At the risk of oversimplifying it again, I tell you, brother, if I can beat alcoholism, then anyone can! If your problem is with something else, I know of plenty of people who thought their situation was hopeless who are now drug-free, strong and happy. A box of rain will ease the pain the pain, and love will see you through. You just keep looking for that box of rain and understand that there are people in this community who love you. God bless you and good luck!

Ian - I've been meaning to write to you since I stumbled across your brave soul-bearing post a few weeks ago but I never quite worked up the nerve, never quite convinced myself that anything I could say would be of any help at all. But I was thinking of you, brother. And I'm sorry I didn't tell you so.

Thank you rob (and thank you dire, flow, liam and w.t.)

when you’ve been treading water for what seems like an eternity, and you finally rub the salt from your eyes and realize the shore is within reach, you let your guard down, exhale, and then bang! a rogue wave, twenty feet from troft to crescent blindsides you. it’s not fair, it offers no apologies and the chaos of the grey, cold, sea simply laughs, taunts and toys with you like a bobber in an eddy, until, finally, YOU decide… sink? or swim?

These are indeed dark days for BlackPeter1. he MUST know we’ve been there, and we’re here for him. He will get by, He WILL survive.
